SEGA is planning to release a new Genesis Collection for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on May 29 that will include over 50 games.

It also appears that it will receive a physical release neds bonus 2019 both on the PS4 and Xbox One and will include a double-sided poster. Noticeably absent is a Nintendo Switch version, which is a real head scratcher, but those people could entertain themselves playing real money casinos instead.

The screenshots and video were uploaded to SEGA’s press site last week, and there hasn’t been an official announcement from SEGA as of yet.

There’s no press release or other product information attached, so we don’t have a full list of the games to be included as of yet, but looking at the box art, there will be the usual stalwarts are included in the video, like Sonic the Hedgehog, Streets of Rage and Golden Axe, to name a few.

The early portion of the video includes the same awesome 3D interactive bedroom featured in the SEGA Mega Drive and Genesis Classics Hub, which was released on Steam in 2016. That bundle included Steam Workshop support that enabled users to submit mods, which was a really awesome feature.

After 14 years of being in the limelight, Football Manager‘s mascot, “Manager Man” has retired. Developer Sports Interactive released this year’s cover for Football Manager, which you can check out below.

While “Manager Man” will no longer be in new Football Manager game, we might see him pop up in other digital entertainment,  like sports betting. When Eurogamer editor Wesley Yin-Poole asked the studio about the decision to retire the mascot, they said:

“It’s a big year of change for us as a studio – we’ve taken the opportunity with moving to our fantastic new office in the Olympic Park to make many changes, such as bringing in our first COO, putting a better structure in place, changing some of our practises as part of what we call SI 3.0 – and a release in Germany for the first time too.

“So with all that going on, it seemed the perfect opportunity for us to have a think about our branding and try and be as fresh with that as we are being with the other changes in the studio, hence the new logo and a point of view perspective for the key art and pack shot.

“Fans of Manager Man shouldn’t be worried though. He’s currently sitting on a beach in Santorini, sipping on a delicious cocktail, deciding what his next career move will be. He’s likely waiting til Xmas to get a new job – the bonuses for keeping clubs up for experienced managers will likely tempt him back in.”

Football Manager 2019 is scheduled to be released on November 2nd. You can pre-order the game by clicking here.

It’s pretty crazy to think that we’re only a few weeks away from getting our hands on Shenmue I and II when it releases in North America on Aug. 21.

But today, we received some even crazier news from SEGA that the game will be released in Japan on Nov. 22, and the PlayStation 4 version will include an amazing physical collector’s edition. This edition will include a 40-track soundtrack on double CD, a two-sided poster and the game itself.

The game is available to pre-order now from Amazon Japan, which you can find the listing here. Also, Phantom Riverstone has translated the tracklist, and you can see that by visiting their article here.

Corey Marshall, famous for his role of Ryo Hazuki in the Shenmue series, teams up with SEGA to give us a closer look at the Shenmue games and how they became one of SEGA’s most beloved franchises.

In this “Part 1” video, he explains the story of Ryo and how he goes on a revenge quest for his father’s murder, as well as the mystery around the Dragon Mirror that his father died to protect. Ryo’s quest leads him around from Yokosuka to many locations in China.

He explains how the obsession of finding clues, getting lost in the immersive world, and becoming Ryo Hazuki helped the games define modern gaming as it is today.

Shenmue I & II will be available on August 21st for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

Shenmue III  is still kicking it in high gear and currently in development as we speak, but that has not stopped fans from continuing to fund Yu Suzuki’s magnum opus. In Shenmue III‘s latest Kickstarter update, YsNet announced that they had surpassed the $7 million stretch goal, which includes the expanded AI battle system.

Here’s an official description of the game mechanic, along with a brand new in-game screenshot, which you can check out below.

This control system lets you automatically unleash the perfect technique in response to the opponent’s positioning and distance. R&D for this system is based on Yu Suzuki’s concept for players who are not used to fighting games or for those who want a full immersion battle experience. This battle system is highly compatible with, and will be an extension to the current battle system.

A Canadian website called Video Games Plus has apparently put out an expected release date for Team Sonic Racing, set for November 30th.

The current state of TSR is that it will come out in the Winter of 2018, which is right in the range of the date. However, it is odd that it is set this late in November, considering that most Sonic titles are released before Thanksgiving holidays.

We will probably get an actual date in the coming months, but at least we have some sort of time frame for when this game will come out.

Last year, Senile Team announced Intrepid Izzy; an action-adventure platformer with a spunky heroine for the SEGA Dreamcast. Senile Team has slowly been revealing information about Intrepid Izzy‘s progress and we like what we see!

Take a look below:

Programming stuff

All sorts of programming magic has been performed, including, but not limited to:

  • Improvements to the sound code. The stereo audio is now actually stereo, with left being left and right be right and that ain’t wrong.
  • Things (enemies, explosions, etc.) that are far away will have a lower volume than things that are close by. Super logical, but it still has to be programmed by someone!
  • Saving the game actually works. Very useful for bug testing as well 🙂
  • Improved Izzy handling. When you give Izzy a little nudge at a ledge, she will drop straight down, and no longer flies off the edge. Of course, when running off a ledge you will fly like the wind.
Is that last one called a drop-kick?
Is that last one called a drop-kick?

New Enemies

Three new enemies have been completed. Designs of two of them were already included in the campaign, and are now finished and dangerous. The third is new and will remain a surprise for when you get to play the game 🙂

Ghosts and love? WIll the third enemy turn out to be Patrick Swayze?
Ghosts and love? WIll the third enemy turn out to be Patrick Swayze?

Flying Squirrel Costume Completion!

The title really says it all. The Flying Squirrel Costume has been completed and will allow the player to reach new areas and look stylish at the same time.
Although Roel made a super-duper animation program to easily animate the characters, the squirrel costume had some very specific challenges. (Check out the animation editor here if haven’t seen it in action yet.)

With the Animation Editor arms and legs were easy to move around, but a billowing cape was not something that it was ever designed for. And a flying squirrel without wings will result in a plummeting squirrel.

So back-breaking manual labour was needed in making the wingless oddity (on the left) into a fully functional flying raging rodent (on the right)!
