SEGA has heard our pleas to get Hokuto ga Kotoku a localization for the western audiences.

Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise will finally see a release in the west after SEGA released a Japan-only version back in March. Made by the same studio that brought us the amazing Yakuza series, this game will take place in an alternate version from the Fist of the North Star canon. So, for those unfamiliar to the story of Kenshiro, this should be a great standalone game.

The game will feature a full on English dub, but for those wanting the full, original experience, a dual audio option will be available for those wanting the game entirely in Japanese. The game will feature everything from the Japanese release, plus, putting this in SEGA’s words: “enhanced violence for western audiences.”

The game will feature many mini-games such as, preparing drinks at a bar, helping a struggling nightclub (similar to Yakuza 0), dune-buggy racing, and playing retro arcade games.

Release date for Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise is October 2, 2018 and will be a PlayStation 4 exclusive.

Today is the big day for Yakuza fans, as Yakuza 6: The Song of Life has finally released after being delayed several months. Like with several of its recent games, SEGA has included a user feedback survey within the game’s PlayStation menu and one of the questions has us pretty excited.

At the end of the survey, a question is asked to gauge user’s interest in a potential Fist of the North Star localization. Known as Hokuto Ga Gotoku in Japan, the game was released on March 8, 2018, on the PlayStation 4, and SEGA has not yet confirmed whether the game would be released outside of Japan.

The survey asks, “While no localization has been announced at this time, how interested are you in the Fist of the North Star game created by the developers of Yakuza?”

While this by no means confirms SEGA will release the game in the West, it does show there is some form of consideration, and if they receive enough positive feedback from the survey, it could go a long way for the game to receive an English localization.

Let us know in the comments below if you’d be interested in Fist of the North Star releasing in the West!

During last week’s Yakuza event, SEGA and Yakuza Studios revealed a Fist of the North game coming out in 2018. Many assumed that Fist of the North Star would use their brand new Dragon Engine, but it appears that it won’t be the case.

According to Yakuza Studios boss Toshihiro Nagoshi, Fist of the North Star will use their older engine from Yakuza Kiwami, and he explains why.

First off, the “Dragon Engine” is an in-development engine, and while it performs very well, it can be peaky and difficult to work with. Recently, there was a structural change at Sega Games and with it the team expanded, so a large number of staff that were not involved in the Yakuza project came in. Under such circumstances, given that things like the tools environment and development know-how of the earlier engine are complete compared to the Dragon Engine, it was more appropriate to use the earlier engine, which nevertheless has sufficient performance.

Hokuto ga Gotoku‘s graphics are realistic, but there is a bit of manga-esque shading called the toon shader. Considering that, they came to the conclusion that they should use the earlier engine rather than the Dragon Engine, which is more realistic and harder to work with.

Fist of the North Star is scheduled to be released on PS4 in Japan in 2018.

Announced during their livestream earlier today, the studio behind SEGA’s popular Yakuza series are currently in-development on a Fist of the North Star game, officially titled Hokuto ga Gotuko for the PlayStation 4. The beloved manga series, which had a brief run from the mid to late 80s, has had a number of games and spin-offs made by different companies throughout the years. But this is probably the first time that they will be taking a true adaptation from the manga.

The action-adventure game will follow the series protagonist, Kenshiro, through a brand new city called “Eden” to find his fiancee, by using any means necessary.

Here is the story from the games official website.

Due to the hell fire of the final war, every living thing seemed to have been destroyed. However… humanity was not annihilated.

An era has arrived where all civilzations were blown away and none were produced. A world where the strong compete for the little food and resources left behind, and where violence dominates.

In the corner of such a world was a place called “The City of Miracles.” That city’s name is “Eden.”

Eden has an inexhaustible supply of water and electricty from the giant dome-shaped “Sphere City,” a relic of the old world overlooking the city, and that blessing provided for it to become an entertainment district. The people of Eden live a rich live unimaginable in this era. It is an indescribable city that can only be hailed as a miracle.

One day, a lone man at the end his wandering finally arrives in Eden. That man’s name is Kenshiro. He was a denshosha of Isshi Souden no Ansatsuken and Hokuto Shinken.

This man, master of the invincible fist, seemed to be fortune’s favorite of this era dominated by violence. But Kenshiro’s heart was full of despair and there was only one hope left to live for.

Kenshiro’s only hope was a rumor that his beloved fiancee Yuria, who was thought to be dead, is living in Eden.

However, Kenshiro’s slight hope was in vain, as the city tightly sealed by castle gates and refused entry of people from the outside…

What will Kenshiro, who wants to enter Eden at any cost, do…? And what is the fate that awaits Kenshiro beyond his pursuit of Yuria…?

Pursuing “love” in the setting of a mysterious city, a man named Kenshiro gets caught up in the torrent of fate named destiny.

The curtain will rise on another legend of the savior.

Here are some screenshots from the website:

This game is scheduled for a release in 2018 exclusively for the PlayStation 4. It will also be showcased at this years Tokyo Game Show.
